Folsom Force Basketball Club

Folsom Force Basketball Club Overview
July 26, 2010

The Folsom Force is a competitive AAU basketball club that promotes the sport of basketball in the Folsom area. Our goal is to provide quality instruction with an emphasis on developing fundamental skills while building highly competitive teams at each grade level. We stress and teach the importance of teamwork, sportsmanship, character, academics, and commitment in the hope that each player will develop lifelong skills that better prepare them for the future on and off the court. Our vision is to create a club environment that generates enthusiastic support from all players, teams, and families within the organization as well as the local community.

Our club will have teams for boys and girls for the 2010-2011 season. All new players that are interested in playing on a Folsom Force team must reside in Folsom. Our goal is to have two teams per grade for boys from 4th grade through 8th grade and one team per grade for girls from 5th grade through 8th grade. The actual number of teams will be determined by the abilities of the players to form teams that are competitive in AAU basketball.

All Folsom Force teams are formed through a tryout. The tryouts will be held on October 3 and 10 at the Folsom Sports Complex (FSC). All players are expected to attend the entire tryout for their grade level. The tryout details will be posted to this web site by the end of September.

The length of the season can vary by team. The season length for most teams will be from November/December through March/April. During the season, teams will practice twice per week, play in an FSC competitive league and play in an AAU tournament about every 2 weeks. Many teams will travel to one tournament out of the local area (Chico or Reno) during the season.

Coaching Opportunities
July 9, 2010

The Folsom Force will have head and assistant coaching opportunities for the upcoming basketball season. Our current openings are at the boys 4th grade level. There will also be openings for girls coaches although at the present we are uncertain which grades will have girls teams.

Please send an email with your contact information, a brief coaching history and details why you want to be a coach. We will contact all candidates and arrange a time for a discussion.

Folsom Force Eligibility Change
September 28, 2009

There is a significant change this year on the eligibility to be on a Force team. With the development of basketball opportunities in surrounding areas, the Folsom Force board has decided that only Folsom residents are eligible to be on a Force team. One exception is that existing Force players from outside of Folsom can continue to be a part of the Force through the 8th grade. There are several high schools in our area that have feeder AAU programs which are only open to players in their respective boundaries and felt that this change was necessary because of those restrictions.

For any questions about the eligibility change, then please send an email.
